President-elect Donald Trump claimed he was going to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America" and blasted President Joe Biden's transition out of office while speaking at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Tuesday (January 7) via ABC News.

"What a beautiful name. And it's appropriate. It's appropriate," Trump said.

Trump claimed he was "inheriting a difficult situation from the outgoing administration and they're trying everything they can to make it more difficult," while also vowing to reverse Biden's oil drilling ban "immediately"

"I will reverse it immediately. It'll be done immediately. And we will drill baby drill," Trump said.

The president-elect then went on to bash late former President Jimmy Carter for ceding control of the Panama Canal days before Carter's Washington funeral, which Trump previously said he'd attend.

"Giving the Panama Canal is why Jimmy Carter lost the election, in my opinion, more so maybe than the hostages," Trump said while continuing his public push for the U.S. to control the canal and Greenland, claiming "we need them for economic security."

Trump also announced a $20 billion investment from the Middle Eastern-based company DAMAC Properties, which he said would focus on building new data centers in the Midwestern and Sun Belt regions in the U.S.
